A few weeks ago, we made our way down to The Speech, Language and Hearing centre located in Christopher Place, a charity we support who do amazing work for children and babies under 5 with hearing and speech impairments. We were met by the then CEO, Rose, who kindly showed us around the amazing building, and spoke to us about all the great work the staff do there.
We support the charity by donating home furnishings, such as rugs and cushions, which helps children develop their senses by touch and feel. Over the last 17 years, the charity has earned an outstanding reputation for developing innovative speech and language therapy programmes that really make a difference to a child’s life.
The children are supported by amazing staff members, who are a highly trained team of speech and language therapists, auditory verbal therapists, occupational therapists, specialist teachers and a chartered psychologist. A close partnership with the whole family is central to their approach, believing it’s key to their success in building children’s communication skills and their self esteem.
It was humbling to be shown around the charity and we loved learning a little more about the place and what makes it special. The Speech, Language and Hearing Centre wouldn’t be what it is without the amazing donations and support it receives. If you would like to donate, you can!
