How to style your work wardrobe this year... read more
Many of us struggled with the return to work after the well needed Christmas break and some of us are feeling in need of a wardrobe update or some styling tips to really get through the January blues! Jess from blog Mummy of Boy Girl Twins has let us into her work styling tips…
After I gave birth to my boy & girl twins back in 2012 I didn’t return to my former career and instead opted to be a stay-at-home-Mum with them for a few years. Now that they are 4 years-old I still don’t work in an office anymore because presently I work from home as a blogger, freelance social media manager & writer. This is something that has evolved into a job for me since starting my blog up 3 years ago as a hobby – and I absolutely love everything about it!
I spend a great deal of my week in my home office, within our new-build family home, where I have set up a space for my desk and key equipment. The majority of my work involves sitting at my iMac computer, writing and creating content, and so I don’t need to be quite dressed up for that. IN fact, I have to make a real effort not to wear sweat pants all day! However, pre-twins I always wore smart workwear – including suits, heels and blouses – and loved power dressing! I worked as a Human Resources Business Partner for some large multi-national companies and travelled around the UK a great deal.
These days I do still need to meet my finance clients for regular meetings and go to events that I get invited to, so having something that I can wear for those smarter days is important. This Laura Ashley outfit is, therefore, perfect for this and I love the colours and textures of it so much.
Plus a good tailored pair of trousers are always great to have in your wardrobe for dressing down with trainers (for a casual look), or wearing with a pair of high heels for a night out for dinner with friends. This tweed pair feel such good quality and fit me so well. I love the wide leg detail too.
What I love about this grey jumper is that the frill detail is really on trend and yet is still extremely practical for being a busy Mum of two. The sleeves and the frilling are absolutely beautiful. It is such a lovely piece and this will also go perfectly with a pair of denim jeans for my more casual days.
So I’m off to make plans and do some important work in my new outfit, as well as making new goals for 2017!
Love, Jess x
