When it comes to Spring, dressing for the weather is always a tricky one, with the sun shining but still with single figure temperatures, it’s hard to know what to wear! Will you be too hot or too cold? Well, a key trend this season is layering, allowing you to layer up or down depending on the weather! Kerri-Ann from Life As Our Little Family has mastered styling our well-loved dungarees and this is how she did it…
It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of dungarees and with glimpses of spring blooms popping up everywhere I turn I couldn’t resist adding another pair to my collection. There isn’t a week that goes by that I don’t wear a pair. Over the last couple of years’ dungarees have become a huge part of my mum style – an outfit I always turn to when I am enjoying a mummy and son day with our five-year-old.
I get so excited when I browse the shops in February and March. Teased by all the spring colours, floaty dresses and strappy shoes. I find myself drawn to brighter colours, vintage florals prints, pinks and blue and so when I had a little browse through the Laura Ashley SS17 collection I was instantly drawn to the blue tones and vintage floral prints which have filled the look book. What catches your eye at this time of year?
I absolutely love a bit of transitional styling, spring looks combined with cosy knits and scarfs – I think Laura Ashley have the perfect SS17 collection starting with these Blue Indigo Corduroy Dungarees. They are comfortable and ever so practical yet with an effortlessly stylish dressed down look just in case you bump into friends. Whether worn with a stripy tee, a structured shirt or a sweater I am excited to start wearing them with pointy flats and a little turn up on the leg for when the sun shines.
Dressing for this in between season can be a little tricky, temperatures are still freezing although that didn’t stop me from pairing these gorgeous military-style dungarees with pointy flats and a delicate Frill Collar Jumper. I have fallen in love with this sweater. If pretty is your style then you won’t be disappointed, it’s simple design with beautiful detailing on the neck, shoulder and lets not forget the balloon sleeves really is the epitome of SS17.
I feel I can wear this outfit with confidence and love how versatile the combination is – whether we are building lego on the floor, off to the library to pick out our latest selection of books, a trip out to the flower market to pick up some spring blooms, or even a little walk around our favourite gardens they really are ideal for daytime wear.
Whilst I do love a cosy knit and a winter boot it has felt lovely to wear something more spring like. I love the pop of colour this Vintage Floral Cross Body Bag print adds to the outfit. Another staple for my mum style – perfect for ensuring you have hands free for carrying a little persons’ rucksack and let’s not forget a little hand.
I’d love to see your mum style. Do share your mum style tips with me in the commnts below. For more of my mum style then do pop over to my blog – Life As Our Little Family.
