The lovely Rachel from Rachel The Hat shows us her favourite outfit for a garden party this summer.
With summer in full swing, it is finally Garden party time. The perfect time to gather some friends and eat and drink in the lovely (hopefully) sunshine. When I think of garden party attire I think smart-casual, you want to look good as it’s a party, and parties deserve to be dressed up for, but it’s also a garden so not too dressy. Plus practicality is also important.
In these instances, I have found one of the best clothing options for such occasion is The maxi dress. I love how a maxi dress can do multiple things, it provides coverage, skims beautifully and still makes you feel elegant and stylish, as well as comfortable.
Practicality and comfort are definitely important when dressing for a garden party, whether it be sitting on picnic blankets or consuming lots of delicious food, you don’t want to feel uncomfortable. For me the maxi dress ticks all the boxes as the floating light layers won’t leave you feeling restricted, enabling you to have lots of fun without being constricted to a tight dress (from both fun and antics as well as food!)
It is definitely a win-win style through summer for me, as even though we’re in our warmest season, as all us Brits know, it can so quickly change leaving the air chilly. Again the maxi dress proves itself to be key as it is great for providing coverage without heavy layers, perfect for our sometimes damp or chilly days.
To add to the outfit a great summer throw-on jacket is perfect. The denim military style one here is bang on trend with its gorgeous military detailing but also a soft denim and cropped cut, which works perfectly with dresses, skirts and trousers. This little jacket is great for throwing on come the evening, when the temperature may drop, the stars are out but you’re not ready to leave.
And let’s not forget this summer’s must-have bag: The straw shopper. A trend I honestly never thought about until this summer, but has served me so well in the weeks since receiving it. It’s amazing what it can hold, from picnic blankets to shopping and your lunch, it really is a brilliant receptacle that makes carrying your things easier and all in a fabulously trendy way.
Each time I wear this bag it gets endless compliments. The red lining and strawberry design really adds to the wicker basket trend and makes this bag even more wonderful.
