It’s official, we’re feeling festive! With the launch of our new Christmas shop, it’s about time to get into the mood. Embracing the spirit with us, blogger Lori from Wild and Grizzly wanted to get crafty with a bunch of top bloggers from Bristol using some of our festive product. Naturally, being the DIY fans that we are, we obliged, and asked the bloggers to get their creative hats on with our Make Your Own Wreath Kit. We sat down with Lori who tells us all about the festive fun day…
It’s official, Christmas is here and I’m embracing every minute of it. Normally I like to wait until December before I begin on all the festive excitement but with my four year old writing letters to Santa Claus and the boxes of mince pies that have magically found their way into my cupboard, I have succumbed to the season of goodwill.
So imagine my delight when the lovely folks over at Laura Ashley asked whether I would like to take part in a little festive blogging workshop with their wonderful Make Your Own Wreath kit, obviously I said yes and got in touch with some other bloggers who I knew would love to be involved.
Fritha from Tigerlilly Quinn, Jessica from Along Came Cherry, Lottie from Oyster & Pearl, Adele from Circus Queen, Laura from Side Street Style and Laura from Cardboard Cities all RSVP’d and were excited about getting the opportunity to customise their own wreaths and I was also looking forward to hanging out with some lovely blogging pals for a morning.
Nestled in the vibrant city of Bristol The Mockingbird Cafe in Clifton with its American southern states menu, painted wooden tables, leafy ferns and best coffee for miles would be the perfect spot to host such an event and get our Christmas on.
Adding a touch of Laura Ashley fabric to create beautiful table runners, I arrived early to set out our kits with a few accessories so each blogger could customise their wreath, adding their own touch of sparkle. The sun bathed the room in light, coffee aromas mingled in with the smell of warm Buttermilk Biscuits with chilli jam and homemade granola, and the children played with their toy animals as their mamas got creative.
Everyone opened their kits which are filled with cinnamon sticks, glittery acorns and fabric flowers amongst other things, and started to fan out their wreaths while chatting across the table. I felt almost transported back to a Shirley Hughes book from my childhood as a sense of community and christmas excitement filled the air.
Once everyone had added their personal touches of pompoms, feathers, autumn leaves and ribbon, each blogger took it in turn to style their wreath and dress the table as they wanted using a beautiful bouquet of Eucalyptus, Thistles, Dahlia’s, Pussy Willows and other pale greens provided by Lloyds Flowers, which matched the setting beautifully.
We then took turns photographing our finished wreath before packaging it up to take home, I must say since then I have been feeling extremely festive and I can’t wait to get a tree up and really start the Christmas countdown.
The wreath making kits are currently on sale from £40 down to £21 and I highly recommend them as it’s so much fun and very satisfying to make and style your own wreath, it’s also a pretty family friendly activity to do and you get tons of accessories to customise your wreath and make something special.
