Celebrate wool week in style with The Stylist and The Wardrobe... read more
With wool week in full swing this week of October, we’re flying the flag for Great British Wool over on the website and in store with our new home and fashion collections. A selection of our woollen items have been woven by one of Britains’ most prestigious cloth mills in the heart of Yorkshire, and we’re proud to offer such a great bunch! Not only is wool natural, but it’s renewable, biodegradable, and breathable, being a great material for all seasons and a fabulous addition for both your wardrobe and home!
This autumn / winter, our fashion is well and truly embracing this trend, with tonnes of stunning items to pick from. We loved them so much that we invited fashion stylist and blogger Joanne from The Stylist and the Wardrobe to celebrate wool week by styling up her favourite woollen piece…
Every season I always get fixated on certain pieces for my wardrobe – I had been madly searching for the right camel coat for the Autumn-Winter season before this new friend came into my life. The very second I slipped this wool rich camel coat on, I knew we were going to get on beautifully.
For me this city coat encapsulates a certain chicness that compares to an Autumn evening spent sipping coffee in Paris or dashing to a show in the West End after work. As a fashion stylist, it’s always fun and tempting to mix different textures, so I teamed this coat with a pair of leather black trousers, which gives the outfit a sophisticated edge. On this occasion, I chose to wear the buttoned coat with some heeled ankle boots to add an extra dollop of glamour. However, it would also work really well with a pair of this season’s laid back skaters for a more dressed down look.
It’s so soft to the touch, that I thought it would sit beautifully over a mannish style shirt which compliments it’s easy going fit. White works wonderfully with camel, as it slightly brightens things up but without trying too hard. I finished the look with a big watch and some delicate necklaces which all work effortlessly together, keeping with the overall chic city look.
A camel coat is one of those classics that you can keep in your wardrobe season after season and always come back to it. A beautiful true classic like this never goes out of style.
This coat would also work beautifully with Laura Ashley’s Wool Mix Cable Knit Jumper, Camel and Grey, always look so elegant together, and this knit is a perfect on trend item to have in your wardrobe heading into Winter. If you wanted to add a little interest, wear the coat with this print choice , the – Wool Mix Leopard Print Jumper from their new collection. The right amount of leopard print is fun and stylish and a fun nod to this new season. They both work really well with neutrals such as black skinny bottoms or dark grey distressed jeans. Other items such as this season’s fedora and leather jacket would also work perfectly.
