Are you someone who has fallen victim to battling with the infamous summer staple that is culottes? Well, there is no need to stress as the gorgeous Kerri-Ann from Life as Our Little Family is here to show us how to work it in these tricky trousers.
It’s here, the time has finally arrived – it is officially time to bare your shoulders and unbox your sandals. I’m so happy ladies, it really is a great time of year to be a little experimental with your style and so I thought I would share my new love with you. Although as I pulled together these words the wind AND rain is crashing against the windows and I’ve been forced to wear a full trouser and shoe to the office – we’ll not think about that right now. Back to my new love, the ‘it’ silhouette for this season – culottes’.
Don’t all run and hide. I know many would say that culottes can look a little awkward with their shin-grazing length, leaving you feeling like you are a little unbalanced – I say embrace them, they are the new midi. Treat them as your midi skirt – wear them with heels, trainers, chunky brogues or a cute sandal. They transition so well from day to night, paired with a casual t-shirt or Breton stripe or an off the shoulder top for the beach and a jacket for a dressed up look.
It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of midi skirts and with summer on its way, I have found a new love. Everywhere I turn I see a wide leg cropped pant, in pastels, iconic prints and bright colours and I’m left feeling so excited for long summer days swooshing through the streets of Espana. I think this is a really pretty outfit for strolling through the streets of Alicante which is where I will be in approximately 74 days. Who’s counting?
These culottes are just beautiful and everything I look for in a feminine outfit whilst still feeling stylish. If you are worried about them looking a little unflattering, then pair them with a form-fitting top like this Laura Ashley off the shoulder cotton blouse that cinches at the waist helping to offset the culottes’ volume. I love the detailing on the cuffs and the curved neckline which sits beautifully on or off the shoulder.
Let’s not forget this ever so stylish crochet duffle bag, Instagram-worthy and my new go-to shoulder bag when we’re off to the beach for the day. The perfect size for storing my sunglasses, sun cream and euros – seriously what more does a girl need when heading to the beach? The bag of my dreams – a classic design with its drawstring faux leather strap – Ladies this is the perfect summer staple for your wardrobe.
I say it’s time to stand strong, wear your culottes, let’s embrace these skirt inspired pant as if it’s your favourite midi. It’s all about the new, loose cropped trouser this summer for me. I’d love to see how you style your culottes, so don’t forget to pop on over to my blog www.lifeasourlittlefamily.com and share your style with me!
