Jetting off for a city trip? Step this way for outfit inspiration read more
In January we often experience a post Christmas slump so our thoughts have quickly turned to booking a little ‘pick-me-up’ city trip. From Barcelona to Copenhagen, office chat is shifting to holiday purchasing tips (we love a good bargain) and what to pack on our travels. Balancing practicality, weather factors and effortless style in your suitcase is a fine art. As well seasoned city trippers, here is our inspiration and tips…
CITY TRIP DAY TIME INSPIRATION
The temptation with a city trip is to load your suitcase with your summer wardrobe, throwing items aimlessly into your bag hoping it’ll fit the bill – sounds familiar? We’ve all been there! Try to pack cleverly and lighter by planning daily outfits. Yes the weather isn’t always guaranteed but check for reports beforehand and cover all scenarios with clever layering options. If you are travelling to Europe, most likely the weather will be milder than the UK but by no means toasty at this time of year so we are planning light knit dresses (note the Mixed Spot Cotton Rich Dress above) which won’t attract creases in your suitcase and ideal for throwing on early doors before you get stuck into the sight seeing. Opt for a stylish but eye catching print to add a touch of playfulness to your look.
A good quality pair of jeans are a city slicker staple. We love our Black bootcut jeans for their flattering fit and modern PU front trims, giving them a design edge. Layer your outfit with a light tee base and a thicker more cosy knit on top. The beauty of layering is that you can easily peel off your top layer if you get hot stomping in and out of boutiques. A hands free across the body bag to house all your valuables (and keep safe) and a brolly is also a given.
CITY TRIP EVENING INSPIRATION
As there is so much to see and do on city trips, we don’t like to chew too much into our time with getting ourselves ready for the evening (plus hours of pruning can often aggravate your travel partner / buddy!) so think ease and cosmopolitan style. Ticking both those boxes is the Silk Contrast Spot Print Dress in an ice pink and black spot print with contrasting plain panels. The slim coral print belt will cinch you in at the waist and the silk material is the height of luxe. Don’t forget a cardigan for when the weather drops and becomes chillier in the evenings.
We hope our tips have given you some ideas. Are any of our lovely readers off on a city trip? We’d love to find out where you are off to and hear your very own packing tips…
