ON OUR RADAR: NOVEMBER

Fashion galore, crafts + skating on ice. What is on our radar this November?

For us November marks the beginning of the festive lead up (yes strictly that might be December but we like to plan early). Our thoughts are already turning to Christmas shopping to avoid the last minute rush and stocking up on festive décor. The temperatures have certainly dropped in the last week so we’re going to make the most of well covered social activities, including trips to the theatre, indoor markets and exhibitions. This is where you’ll find us…

ISABELLA BLOW: Fashion Galore

Somerset House

Isabella Blow, 1997 (c) Mario Testino

The late patron of fashion and art Isabella Blow was a creative force to reckoned with; from the beginning of her career as Anna Wintour’s assistant at US Vogue to her hugely inspiring climb and influence in her post at British Vogue and then later Fashion Director at The Sunday Times and Tatler magazine. Her extraordinary life and wardrobe is being celebrated this month at Somerset House; ‘a bittersweet event’ as Daphne Guinness describes it, which celebrates how she ‘made our world more vivid, trailing colour with every pace she took’. With a wardrobe boasting the likes of Alexander McQueen, Philip Treacy and Givency, this will be a guaranteed fashion spectacle.

One of our favourite evenings out in the Autumn is getting dressed up in our finest and enjoying a night out at the theatre. We have already spotted banners up on the London Underground to catch Jude Law in Henry V. A thrilling night at one of Shakespeare’s greatest plays, investigating the bloody horrors of war and turbulence of a land in crisis.

The line up at the Ideal Home Show at Christmas is nothing short of impressive. Interior, home, decorations, fashion and beauty stalls, a Christmas cookery theatre as well as home improvement advice from the experts (this is a star studded affair). Not to mention an ice skating rink right smack bang in the middle of all the action. Just in case you fancy taking a break from all the shopping and getting your skates on? Why not we say!
