Join us on our grand tour of the brand new Laura Ashley Hotel The Manor…
Here at Laura Ashley head office we’ve had a rather exciting secret under wraps and it’s now time to finally reveal our news! We are delighted to announce the very first Laura Ashley hotel, The Manor in Elstree, Hertfordshire…
Set amongst the sprawling ten acres of woodland and gardens, The Manor boutique hotel has been especially designed and furnished by the Laura Ashley Design Service. An enchanting retreat, The Manor plays host to 49 rooms all individually designed with the latest Laura Ashley interior collections, including the exclusive Cavendish restaurant and relaxing gardens. Alongside the Laura Ashley furnishings The Manor Hotel encompasses the charming period features of its Tudor style that capture the essence and feeling of the quintessentially English heritage behind Laura Ashley.
Yesterday morning we met our journalist friends from some of the UK’s biggest interior, travel and wedding titles at Drink Shop Do for an early morning cuppa before whisking them off on board a red route master bus from Kings Cross to Laura Ashley The Manor. Pulling up in to the grounds of The Manor felt suitably British and a sure fine way to travel in style…
What an entrance! The main reception is an inviting light, reflective space with highlights of camomile creating a warm friendly ambience. The impressive Italian fireplace which dates back to the 18th century makes this area the heart of the hotel during the winter months. Sit back and relax in the small seating area whilst admiring the 16th Century wall panelling, carvings and beams (some of which are thought to have come from one of the Spanish Armada ships).
Welcome fruity ‘mocktails’ in the grand reception were followed by a delectable brunch in the hotel’s restaurant (The Cavendish) and a presentation film showcasing The Design Service’s incredible journey in transforming the hotel into the boutique escape now ready to be enjoyed today. All of our rooms are specially themed and individually styled using Laura Ashley products, offering a unique stay to each of our guests. Now we have a good excuse to come and stay multiple times!

We had to instagram this! Just about to tuck into French toast with berry compote
The Cavendish restaurant where we enjoyed a spot of brunch, complete with stunning vaulted ceilings, 16th Century panelling, striking Corinthian columns framing the large window at the rear and painted wooden panels as artwork (original pieces from our archive). The Cavendish is not only our main restaurant but also the main functions room; the neutral colour palette makes it the perfect backdrop for wedding ceremonies.
Feeling suitably fed and watered, our press guests were divided into small groups to enjoy a tour from one of our Design Service representatives. We couldn’t wait to have a nosey inside each of the hotel’s key rooms…
Stained glass detail on the stairwell windows leading up to the deluxe rooms date back to the 16th Century.
Climbing the grand stairwell was like stepping into role as a character from a period drama. Beautiful!
The stunning Mayfair Bridal Suite was one of the star attractions, with it’s glamorous country feel using silk and velvets. Mixing golds and french greys to appeal to both bride and groom, the room boasts a super king 4 poster bed and views of the hotel grounds and London’s skyline. Injecting some sophistication into the room is our Capri mirrored coffee table, console and side table, whilst the 4 poster bed, desk and chest of drawers are from our popular Garrat chestnut cabinet range. We especially love the original map on the main window sill depicting the view of London which can be seen from the window.
View from the bridal suite window – this picture doesn’t do it justice! On a clear day you can see the BT Tower, Wembley Arch and even the Shard.

How could we leave The Manor without exploring the picturesque grounds? The traditional country garden has been brought back to life , capturing the feel of a true English garden. Leading from the lawn to the pond is the Rose Arbour, with its dramatic and romantic climbing roses. The idyllic surroundings is the perfect backdrop for outside dining, a stroll, relaxing or having fun. Anyone for a game of chess on the giant chess board?
The Manor is situated eleven miles from London, ideal for those visiting the capital. Also a convenient location for functions such a business conferences, weddings and special occasions.
