Delving into the Archive, we sit down with Holly who tells us a little bit about the print.
Archivist Holly tells us…
“Pussy Willow originated as a contemporary painted scenic design which was discovered in a design archive in 2011 by the home furnishings designers. The original piece was in a very different colourway and included a bird, possibly a finch on account of its red breast and black speckled head.

However, what caught the designer’s eye, was the pussy willow for its pretty, oriental style of line and painterly effect. They adapted the inspiration piece to create a new arrangement of the pussy willow branches, resulting in a fresh design that still carries Laura Ashley’s distinctive signature. Pussy Willow was first launched in Autumn Winter 2012, as part of a story called ‘Moody Hues,’ which introduced the design in 2 colourways: Grape and Natural which are still available today.
For Spring Summer 2015’s ‘Country Casual’ story, the Pussy Willow collection was expanded to include 2 further colourways that fitted perfectly with the season’s trend: Seaspray and Off-white/Seaspray.”
Taking centre stage for Spring/Summer, our new Seaspray Pussy Willow colour ways is a great way to add a fresh feel into your living space. Transporting us to a coastal scene, this print would make a great addition to your homes for the warmer months.
