Oh do we have a treat for you today! Let us introduce to you our October Blogger Crush: the wonderful Emma from Life At The Little Wood. This gorgeous blog is full of country-life musings, family fun and gorgeous interiors; we warn you, you will get immense home envy as the pictures of her home are like looking through a Laura Ashley catalogue – we love it!
What do we love about Emma’s blog? No word of a lie – everything! Her blog really does feel like we’re stepping into her home, with the words itself feeling like you’re catching up with her over a cup of tea. From autumnal country walks to her Things I’m Loving Lately posts, you can’t help but feel inspired by her writing. Oh and before we forget: Emma has recently welcomed a new puppy to the family who is absolutely adorable; we look forward to hearing more about Ernie’s adventures!
Emma has already been featured on the Laura Ashley blog before where she created the ultimate Wonderland Tea Party for her little girl’s birthday. When we saw the pictures, we were in awe! What a stunning table setting and a truly wonderful idea for a party. Emma tells us that her little girl also had a hand in the styling – a future stylist in the making, for sure!
Let’s hear more from the lovely Emma about her fabulous blog…
How did your blog Life At The Little Wood come about?
I left my job in teaching five years ago, largely to be at home while my children were small. When my littlest started pre-school two years ago, I decided to give blogging a whirl, really just as something to take my mind off my empty nest! Life at the Little Wood was intended to be a creative outlet – somewhere that I could write, and express, and gather all those memories of family life into one place. The home we built, and this little corner of the Irish countryside is such an inherent part of that too, and my blog has evolved into a real mix of interiors, fashion, beauty, and everything that it means to be raising a family in this special place.
It has no specific niche, but that mish-mash just reflects me, and us, and I think that’s maybe true of a lot of families, a lot of women, nowadays.
What do you enjoy most about blogging?
I’ve carved a little career out of writing, which has been amazing in terms of the flexibility it affords me with the children. I definitely wouldn’t claim to have struck the work/life balance one hundred percent, but I’m definitely getting there!
By far though, my favourite part of it is the community. I’ve met some of the loveliest people through my blog – fellow bloggers, PR’s, brand contacts and many local businesses, who are just so in tune with what a driving force blogs can be these days. They never fail to encourage and support, and it’s an exciting time to be involved in marketing and media outreach in all its various forms.
What inspires you to write?
I’m definitely really influenced by the countryside, being outdoors and just sharing those simple pleasures that I try increasingly hard to find time for. Time with my family, the smell of baking from a warm oven, gloved hands circling steaming coffee, icing sugar frosts on rotund hills, pretty things I see and experience. Inspiration comes in a million different forms but for me, most often, nature is at the heart of it.
Please share with us your top three bookmarked blogs…
The Ordinary Lovely
Rachel has become such a good friend in the past few months, but I loved her blog long before we got in touch. If ever there was a kindred spirit for me, she is it, and The Ordinary Lovely reflects everything I adore in a blog. It is a feast for the eyes, and the soul too!
The Spirited Puddle Jumper
Becky and I share a love of interiors, and in particular that really eclectic mix of styles that make a home completely individual. She blogs beautifully about home, family and being a modern mum, with such a genuine, down to earth voice. I always leave her blog feeling happier for visiting.
Mummy Daddy Me
Katie’s blog is visually stunning, and very deservedly has received numerous awards over the last few years. She writes honestly about juggling family and career, her love of travelling, and her gorgeous home too. Her blog is colourful, inspiring and utterly professional, with some of the most beautiful photography you will find.
