Storage Solutions

Whether you are lucky to create your bespoke kitchen design or working with you already have, you can never have enough savvy storage. With a few clever solutions in place, dedicate a home for everything and let the clutter disappear from your counter tops. Floating shelves have become a much-loved interior trend, perfect for creating an airier environment without that cramped feeling. Why not show off your kitchenware on exposed shelves for a decorative display? If you’re a keen baker showcase off your tools and cookery books in style, or perhaps you like to entertain often, keep your wineglasses on display (and in easy reach!). If space doesn’t allow, use a plush Ratten tray to house all your cups and saucers on the counter top for a neat display.

Dining Dilemmas

If you’re doubling up your kitchen and dining area, space can be tight. With a few simple design choices you can make the most of your dinky dining area. When choosing a space-savvy dining table, either choose a circular table that allows more people to move around (without causing a people traffic jam), or a clever fold-out console table if you are seating a larger number of guests. Pick slender arm-less dining chairs that will create both literal floor space and make the room look visually larger.

 Bright Buys

Getting the lighting correct in your kitchen is essential, create a balance between ambient lighting for setting the mood and task lighting for cooking and prep areas. Spotlights are the ideal option for the kitchen, they offer a bright focus on work surface areas, however create a soft back drop with subtle wall lighting like the Sorrento Wall Light.

Colour Savvy

When choosing a colour palette for your kitchen area, make sure to opt for a neutral colour palette of soft pastel shades. This will  enhance the feeling of space, opening up the area to look brighter and bigger. If you want to bring a splash of colour to your kitchen and add a decorative touch, choose a statement piece of wall art like our classic Summer Palace Print Canvas

Curtain Call

Making the most of the natural light, steer away from heavy curtains and dress your windows in our made-to-measure voile curtains to emphasis a brighter and visually spacious surrounding. To lock in the heat come winter however, double up with a set of blinds in a print that will bring colour to your room or invest in some blackout thermal lined curtains.

Finishing Touches

For a finishing touch there’s nothing quite like a vase of freshly picked flowers on display, or should you feel green fingered, why not try your hand at growing your own herbs on the window sill? A useful addiction if you like to get culinary creative in the kitchen!
