Bloomsbury Now And Then

Marking the 60th anniversary of Laura Ashley our beloved Bloomsbury is back… read more

Die hard Laura Ashley fans will recognise our spring / summer Bloomsbury collection from the much loved 80’s original. Laura Ashley acquired the rights to a rare selection of Charleston House patterns 25 years ago (1987) and to mark our 60th anniversary this year was the perfect timing for it’s revival! Bold, freely painted patterns, shown in signature prints Queen Mary and Charleston Grapes, combined with a scandi influence; provide the basis for our statement collection of the season.

The playful colour palette is in keeping with one of the original 1987 colourations of our Queen Mary print, with pretty jade, plum, primrose and steel grey hues. Go bold with the Bloomsbury prints on curtains and upholstery or give a nod the artistic aesthetic with a touch of pattern on cushions / accessories or just one wallpapered feature wall. Mix with soft amethyst and simple scandi inspired furniture.

To jog those of you that might remember the original see the campaign image we dug out from the archive below (circa 1987) and then some stunning campaign images of how it has been re-invented for today…

I am very interested in obtaining fabric in the original Bloomsbury/Charleston fabrics, e.g. West Wind or Grapes as Laura A. did in late 80s. Your current ones don’t have colour way I require.

Worked for the company in early 90’s in corporate in-store. Loved all the textiles. It always the Bloomsbury collections the best! Sitting in a hotel in London tonight with Bloomsbury drapes and reminded how good it was and is.

Hi, I have a couple of bolts of original Queen Mary in the jade, bought twenty years ago but never used. I wonder if anyone might be in need so many years on. I also have LA made Montgomery sofa covers in same fabric. Best regards Dez

Hi Dez,
Thanks very much for getting in touch 🙂 We already have a selection of this fabric so we would suggest seeing if anyone would be interested in purchasing this off you online. xx

I am looking for some Queen Mary Jade linen union to make curtains. Is there any available to purchase?
